Alderfer Three Sisters Park Update, Evergreen, Colorado

Survey Team… Over the weekend, we updated our old 2005 survey of this park to include the new trails that were added in recent years.  We also discovered a new network trail that goes to the Elephant Butte section of a Denver Mountain park… There will be more to come from this park when we return next week.  Updates to our current maps to be announced as soon as we know.

Hildebrand Ranch Park, Colorado

Survey Team… We recently completed our survey of this new Jefferson County Park.  With limited cover, this area will be very warm in the summer but for the evenings and early season, this park has a fantastic 4.8 loop for training.  One part of the journey will be confusing since the Two Brands Trail connects with a greenbelt system… but we are confident that our map and gps coordinates will clear up that issue (once created).  Date of posting to the website to be announced.

Heil Valley Ranch Park Update Lyons, Colorado

The Survey Team completed its update for Heil Valley Ranch Park which includes the recently added Picture Rock Trail.  This new trail connects the Lefthand Canyon trailhead to the Picture Rock trailhead (in Lyons, Colorado).  With its relatively gradual winding ascent, this is an excellent trail for bikers of all levels.  Hikers and shutter bugs alike will appreciate the natural beauty of the area as it makes its transition from wooded plateau to valley.  This wonderful addition also places Heil Valley Ranch Park in close proximity to Hall Ranch… making for incredible bonus adventures. www.BigDaddyMaps.com

Grant Terry Park Golden, Colorado

BigDaddyMaps.com just completed its survey of Grant Terry Park located near Golden, Colorado.  Our journey was very scenic because we found a trail that followed a 1930s era aqueduct.  That trail offers incredible views of Clear Creek Canyon and Coors Brewery.  There are also multiple trails that follow Clear Creek.  This is a great place for a quick after work hike or weekend picnic.  www.BigDaddyMaps.com

10th Mountain Division Huts Survey Continues

The Survey Team ventures into the Aspen, Basalt, Leadville, and Eagle areas to continue their 10th Mountain Division Huts survey.  The journey has seen hundreds of miles of driving, hiking, and route finding.  They will keep us updated on their progress as the summer continues.  Their update to the Colorado Hut to Hut traveling promises to be exciting.

On July 3rd 2010… The Survey Team was surprized when the 4×4 Road under their vehicle crumbled sending them into a group of Aspen tree.  Nobody was hurt but the team had to walk out of the wilderness due to the lack of cell phone coverage.  Returning the next day (July 4th 2010) with a pick axe, shovel, chain saw, and cable pullers… the Survey Team was able to free their 4 Runner in a matter of hours.
